In Loving Memory of Neil CarlinSchauer: A True Asset to M-RETS and Most Importantly a Genuinely Good Human

It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our dear colleague, Neil CarlinSchauer. Neil was not just an employee; he was an integral part of M-RETS, and his untimely departure leaves a void that words can hardly express.

Neil brought so much more than his professional expertise to M-RETS; he brought warmth, kindness, and humor.

The M-RETS team fondly remembers Neil as a man of many talents and diverse interests, a true “Renaissance Man.” His dedication to a wide range of pursuits – from participating in triathlons to engaging in the thrilling world of rally car racing, where he not only competed but also meticulously worked on his cars – was admirable. His love for adventure was further reflected in his motorcycle trips, including a memorable journey to Alaska, and his varied hobbies such as volunteering in a haunted basement, hiking, and fishing. His beloved cat, Mr. Pants, was a delightful part of his eclectic mix of passions. Among these, his enthusiasm for cars, especially his rally car, shone brightest.

Neil’s contributions were invaluable, and he played a pivotal role in our team. His ability to tackle challenges with a positive attitude and collaborative spirit made him a standout member of our organization. Whether he was working on complex projects or lending a helping hand to a colleague, Neil approached every task with unwavering enthusiasm.

Beyond his professional achievements, Neil was a friend to many. His sense of humor, generosity, and genuine nature endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Neil’s absence will be deeply felt by all of us at M-RETS, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.

During this difficult time, our thoughts and condolences go out to Neil’s family including his mother Erin, stepfather Gregg, and sister Kyle, friends, his navigator Tim Kohlmann who survived the crash that tragically took Neil from us, and all of his loved ones. We encourage the M-RETS community to come together to support one another as we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on our organization and in our lives.

In honor of Neil’s memory, let us strive to make a positive impact in the world, just as he did every day.

Rest in peace, dear Neil. You will be profoundly missed.

Sincerely,

M-RETS Staff & Board of Directors
